What to expect during helmet therapy for flat head syndrome

When your baby has been diagnosed with “flat-head syndrome,” it’s natural to have a lot of questions and concerns.

In this post, we offer a summary of the treatment process at Sano Orthotics, so you know what to expect

1st Appointment - Assessment & Scanning

A 3D scan of your baby’s head will be taken, which will provide comprehensive and highly accurate data points for the assessment of your baby’s head condition.

At the same time, the same digital file will be utilised for the digital design of the helmet. Using white light scanning technology, this process is non-contact, non-traumatic, clean and safe for the baby.

2nd Appointment - Helmet Fitting

Using proven and reliable digital design and design optimisation processes, the helmet design is completed digitally and 3D printed for fitting within 2 weeks. With 3D printing, a lightweight and well ventilated helmet is achieved that is comfortable for your baby’s full time use.

Regular Follow-Up

During treatment, we will monitor your baby’s head growth and to ensure that a precise helmet fit is maintained. Adjustments are made to the device as needed to accommodate growth and/or optimise the function of the helmet.

Repeated scans are taken at each follow-up to track the treatment progress with 3D visualisation of head shape improvements.
